Morris Liebman, a devoted family man, business owner, and long-time Islander, passed away on Nov. 19, 2023. Born in Brooklyn in 1930, Murray moved to Staten Island in 1956, where he built a successful career as a CPA, eventually opening his own practice. With a strong connection to his community, a sharp sense of humor, and a love for politics, Murray’s greatest joy was always his family. YESTERDAY’S OBITUARIES

Former Staten Islander James Alloco, 75, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, died in Austin, Texas. Alloco was born in Rockville Center, N.Y., and grew up in Long Island. “Jim selflessly dedicated his life to the service of others through On Your Mark Inc., leaving an indelible mark on the community,” reads his obituary. “James was also the founding coach of Monsignor Farrell’s lacrosse program where he spent countless hours on and off the field coaching and mentoring young athletes. Carol Landron, a dedicated nurse and loving and devoted mother and wife, died Nov. 8, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She was 64. The longtime nurse worked at Richmond University Medical Center for 10 years, right up to the time of her passing, said her obituary. In 2001 she became the Parish Nurse at Holy Rosary, putting aside, for the time, her full-time nursing career to serve the parish community, and senior citizens center. Frederic Marks, a plastic surgeon and family man, died Nov. 5 at 90 years old. He practiced plastic and cosmetic surgery in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Manhattan for nearly 50 years and treated over 40,000 patients, performing procedures that varied from repairing faces lacerated in car accidents to performing whole body transformations, reads his obituary. The Brooklyn native moved to Staten Island after the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge was completed. Margaret Ricciardi, 109, a professional artist, businesswoman and great-great-grandmother who “loved life and everything it offered,” died Nov. 17 after a sudden illness. She and her husband owned Ricciardi’s Shoe Service in the St. George Ferry Terminal. “She had a zest for travelling and relished new experiences, always looking to the next adventure. She also had a passion for socializing and entertaining and gathering with family and friends in the sprawling home she designed and lived in most of her life. Paul Henry Schimming, of Florida, a Vietnam War veteran, beloved father and grandfather, died on Nov. 6. The native Staten Islander worked at his family’s restaurant, Henny’s Steak House, after he graduated Port Richmond High School. “. Recently Paul was honored for his wartime service and received several tributes. Paul also had a pinning ceremony given by the Vietnam Veterans Organization.
